Sulfide dyestuff is currently one of the main dyes commonly used in the printing and dyeing industry;
Sulfide dyes are insoluble in water and cannot be directly applied to fibers. During dyeing, such deoxidizers as alkali sulfide and sodium hydrosulfide are supposed to be added.
Alkali sulfide or sodium hydrosulfide, as a dyestuff and dye deoxidizer, is not only used for sulfide dyes, but also frequently used in the dyeing of some non-sulfide dyes, in large amounts; 
    Alkaline dye deoxidizers such as alkali sulfide or sodium hydrosulfide would dissolve and reduce the dye to a water-soluble form (sodium salt of leucosome) that has affinity with the fiber. After dyeing, the leucosome is oxidized to form an insoluble color lake and deposited on the fiber, to obtain excellent dyeing fastness and color.
