Production Technique:
If apply in high speed equipment (such as high speed dispersion machine) for coating production, sufficient dispersing agent (such as dispersiong agent WS-25B) and wetting agent recommended, pre-dispersing pigment and padding in alkaline medium. If apply in low speed equipment, specially for production of high viscosity products (such as relievo, lacquer putty), emulsion together with agents put in stirred vessel first, and then pigment and padding added.
It is excellent consistency and bonding properties with pigment and padding. Only some pigments with poor wettability such as carbon black, calcium sulfate, zinc oxide are restricted. The latter two material will increase viscosity significantly. There is a wide-range variation of amount of pigment and padding addition, and that depends on different application (interior and exterior wall), requirements (such as luster, elongation, wet scrub resistance), substrate type, and amount of bonding agent needed for pigment and padding (oil absorption) etc.
It is general necessary to add thickener for the emulsion varnish based on this products. The thickener applicable includes middle or high viscosity cellulose ether, poly acrylate, polyurethanes or bentonite, and polysaccharide thickener. The different thickener selected depends on the detail requirement of finished products on levelling property and thixotropy.
It is supposed to take little film formation agent in recipe, to guarantee the film forming smoothly when temperature lower 20ºC. The film forming agent applicable includes binary alcohol ether or their acetate, aromatic solvent oil etc. it can be used alone or mixed with others. The max. additive volume of film forming agent account for 2% of coating. Lower alcohol and dibydric alcohols are not suitable as film forming agent, but they will improve the frost resistance and moisture welts properties of coating. It is not suitable to add high concentration solvent and thickener in emulsion varnish, because of the partial flocculation in coating sometime. The best way should be pre-mixing with pigment paste or addition after diluting with water
It will make the coating with better elongation property when mixing with some kinds of soften rubber latex.
The finished products will be tinctured by color paste or pre-made dark color paint. The pre-testing of consistency and storage stability will be recommended because of the flocculation between water and pigment during tincturing. In order to solve this issue, nonionic surfactant recommended. A little thickener (such as thickener RG-HB302) added, that will improve the storage stability of high pigment & padding interior wall emulsion varnish produced with ultra hard water, and also make equipment easy to clean.
Like other small particl size rubber lates, this products with the tendency of foaming, take some defoaming agent according to ratio suggestted by manufacturer (generally 0.3-1%), and pre-testing recommended.
Although some micro orgamism control measure taken, preservative still needed in finished products for long time storage stability, and the pre-testing of consitency and effectiveness of preservative recommended.
Because the process of manufacturing and application affected by a lot of factors ( such as consistency of different componets, mixing technology and detail requirments of adhering to different substrate), and it is impossible for us to test them all. So it is necessary to do the testing by manufacturer themselves according to detail requirment of finished products. And the testing of products viscosity stability @ 50ºC should be included.
Safety
Must comply with measures prescribed in geneal matters need attention and local health management of chemical transportation. With good ventilation, and operator should take some skin protective measures and wear protective glasses.
This products contain some trace VOC inevitable in technology.
